Well! Ciara announced yesterday that she was expecting her first child with fiance Future, and she opened up more about her pregnancy in a new interview yesterday with The Huffington Post. (She also talked about her new music and how she feels about Beyonce, so there’s that, too.)

First and foremost, she’s pregnant — with creativity! “I’ve been recording on my new album,” she said. “I actually started around Thanksgiving of last year and I’m in the most comfortable creative space I could possibly be in. I actually will be giving my fans something really soon. I’m really excited about it because it’s so beautiful and really sweet.” This probably means that we will never get a proper single release for “Overdose,” but hey, you can’t really say no to new music.

As for the baby on the way: “It really is a blessing,” she said. “It really is the most exciting time in my life.” And there you have it.

She also talked a bit about Beyonce’s role in the industry, although she denied that there’s any sonic similarities between the two of them. (Is that really true?) “I respect Beyonce,” she said. “I respect any woman that’s having success in this because it’s a really hard world to stand strong in, to keep going and keep reinventing. We all do our own thing and I think that’s the great thing about it. What she and I do is completely different and I feel like there’s no comparison in reference to who we are as artists, which is really cool. There’s a world for all of us to be successful.”

Rihanna might not agree, but oh well.
