Disney’s ‘Frozen’ Soundtrack Rules Album Chart For A Second Week, Keeps Beyonce At Bay

As noted yesterday, industry projections saw Beyonce‘s self-titled fifth album returning to the top spot on the Billboard 200 for a fourth non-consecutive week, after being toppled by Disney’s Frozen soundtrack last week, but the latter has hung in there and retains the #1 position. As of Monday (January 13), the charming animated smash has earned a staggering $318 million in theaters, according to Box Office Mojo, and its accompanying soundtrack moved another 86,000 copies last week. (Beyonce sold 79,000, and holds at #2 on the album chart.)

Billboard points out that Frozen is the first theatrical film soundtrack to maintain the top position for multiple weeks since Dreamgirls spent two weeks at #1 in early 2007. In an ironic twist, Dreamgirls, of course, starred Beyonce. To-date, the Frozen soundtrack has sold 589,000 copies, while Beyonce stands at 1.5 million in its fifth week.

Catch the rest of the movers, shakers and those who just won’t go away on the album chart below.
