Danity Kane Come Back Swinging With Excellent New Song “Bye Baby”: Listen

Given their dubious reality TV origins, the bickering and drama, and their divergent career paths since splitting up, it’s easy to forget that Danity Kane turned out some exceptionally forward-thinking pop tunes; but since reuniting as a four-piece (now sans D. Woods) the girls have been hard at work in the studio, and now the first official fruit of their labor has been unveiled: A new track called “Bye Baby” that sounds as fresh and current as anything on radio.

Production that sounds like Pharrell (there’s plenty of “Blurred Lines” in this song’s DNA) and luscious harmonies from the girls lend the song a casual, effortless funk; the chorus, though, is an instant earworm, with the kind of jazzy crescendo that wouldn’t sound out of place in an Amerie song.

Suffice it to say that Danity 2.0 is sounding better than ever. Listen below.
