One Direction’s Liam Payne Unleashes Twitter Rant Directed At Media
One Direction‘s Liam Payne ranted at length on Twitter about the media attention he’s received for praising A&E’s hit reality show Duck Dynasty. For an hour or so, he directed all of his frustration toward one Mirror headline in particular: “One Direction’s Liam Payne defends ‘homophobic tweet’ Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson supporting family values.'” (It’s worth noting that The Mirror never attributes the “homophobic tweet” quote.)
“Oh my god can someone literally not be a fan [of] a show without being labeled,” Payne said. Earlier this week, Payne tweeted at Duck Dynasty‘s Willie Robertson that he had “huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold.” His timing was unfortunate; in the January issue of GQ, Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson elaborated on what he thinks is sinful behavior: “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there.”
Payne had already addressed the ensuing headlines tactfully (“Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say”) before he angrily criticized the criticism. He even screencapped search results for his name, including the Mirror article. “Look at this shit I never said any [of] that write about something real for once there’s plenty of issues In the world,” he said, before he advised journalists to “Pick ur balls up off the floor.”
