Andre 3000 & Big Boi Reportedly Working On Solo Albums

UPDATE: We reached out to Outkast’s rep, who stated, “There is no announcement regarding new music at this time.”

There’s still not much clarity about whether Outkast‘s reunion tour is the endgame or if it’s going to be bundled with a new album from the duo. But Revolt TV is reporting that for now, no Outkast album is in the works… because Andre 3000 and Big Boi are each working on a solo album. Both rappers have been hitting up Stankonia Studios in Atlanta to record new material for separate solo projects, according to their producer Mr. DJ.

(For what it’s worth, Revolt was the first outlet to report Outkast’s 2014 reunion, so they’re on that ATLiens tip.)

A solo joint from Dre is nearly as anticipated as another full-blown Outkast project, since he’s been somewhat reclusive following the duo’s hiatus. As for Big Boi, he released his second solo album in December 2012 and has shown himself to be a solid solo artist even though Dre’s more left-field antics often dominated the conversation near the end of Outkast’s run.

There’s still hope, though, that all this could lead to a proper Outkast album. “I get the feeling that the energy and camaraderie from the tour will bring everything full circle,” Mr. DJ told Revolt. “We may make it back in for an album following that.”
