Marla Joy’s “Perfectly Flawed” Is Anything But: Idolator Premiere

Marla Joy is a rising Canadian singer/songwriter with a taste for ’70s-tinged pop/rock with a soulful twist. She takes her cues from the greats like Aretha Franklin and Janis Joplin, which explains why new single “Perfectly Flawed” showcases her raw, velvety vocals and eschews studio trickery.

Assisting the rock chick is Australian blue-eyed soul singer Daniel Merriweather, who is perhaps best known in this country for UK top 5 hit “Red”. He co-wrote the song with Marla and even provides backing vocals on the track — adding another level of lush soulfulness. Listen to the song after the jump.

The Canadian’s EP, also titled Perfectly Flawed, drops February 25. Do you like Marla’s new track? Have your say in the comments below.
