Enrique Iglesias reunites with Pitbull for “I’m a Freak,” and the end result feels a lot like 2013′s The Internship. It marks the return of a dynamic duo (Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, from Wedding Crashers), being exactly where they shouldn’t be (now, maybe twice as old as anyone else on screen), only in a scenario that somehow feels three times as bizarre and long.
The video’s product placement is of Adore Me, a lingerie company — appropriate for this no-pants (and pool) party that Iglesias and Pitbull are crashing. Skrillex makes a cameo as a DJ, although he’s hard to spot among the shaky, Blair Witch Project-style close-ups of girls climbing over each other, fawning over Pitbull and forming twerking dance circles.
In short: The “I’m a Freak” video is almost exactly like the “I Like It” video, only ramped up by glow sticks, whipped cream and an outdated Lil Jon reference. (Yeah, “Get Low” happened in 2003.) It’s kind of a headache, but as the viewing public will likely say, “Life’s a party. Crash It.” Iglesias’ tenth album, Sex + Love, is out March 18; for now, watch the “I’m a Freak” video up top.
