9. Dawn Richard & Drew Scott

After the breakup of Danity Kane, and sticking with Diddy for Diddy-Dirty Money‘s lone (secretly great) album, Dawn Richard hooked up with producer Drew “Druksi” Scott for her 2013 solo release Goldenheart. Scott produced and co-wrote nearly every song on that album, which received rave reviews, and the two returned to the studio for the anticipated followup Blackheart. Unfortunately, they shelved the project — in an interview last year, Scott didn’t reveal details, but said, “We had a really good run… It hurt when we stopped working together but it was one of those things that I think, it needed to happen… You work with people today and tomorrow it’s not always the same. I definitely wish her the best of luck.” On the bright side, with no Blackheart, Richard was available for that Danity Kane reunion.

10. Jay Z & Timbaland

When Timbaland told Revolt TV he cut ties with Hov over “petty stuff” after 2009’s The Blueprint 3, he explained, “It was not industry-related, it was more personal and I was wrong.” Jay shed more light on the spat in a Zane Lowe interview last summer, saying of the Blueprint 3 sessions that “It seemed like it was more about [Timbaland] than the actual album… That was almost the last straw type of thing, and we just went our separate ways.”

But we’re ending on a good note for all you romantics out there who’ve been soured after reading these entries, bleakly concluding that people aren’t meant for longterm relationships, whether they be for business or pleasure. Tim penned an apology rap, Jay met back up with him and felt “he had this maturity and this growth,” and they rekindled the relationship, hammering out the majority of Magna Carta Holy Grail.

Maybe there’s hope for K$ and Dr. Luke after all.
