Lea Michele Unleashes Sia-Penned Mid-Tempo Ballad “You’re Mine”: Listen

Mariah Carey isn’t the only diva debuting a song called “You’re Mine” today (February 10)! Fellow vocal powerhouse Lea Michele recorded a similarly titled track for her Louder album and the Sia-penned mid-tempo ballad somehow found its way online early.

Songs from Lea’s debut LP have been a little hit and miss so far but to the Glee star’s credit, they all have a unique sound (from dance-pop to piano ballads) and show different sides of her personality. That is also true of “You’re Mine”, which infuses what could have been a fairly standard ballad with heavy urban beats and ambient synths.

Produced by the always innovative Chris Braide, the track does a good job of keeping Lea’s natural affinity for adult contemporary music in check with its sweeping soundscape. My only reservation is her  vocal, which imitates Sia’s distinctive approach a little too obviously. (This was also apparent on lead single “Cannonball”). Listen to the latest taste of Louder after the jump.
