U2 Are Bathed In All Of The Lights For “Invisible” Video: Watch

U2 previewed their “Invisible” video during the Super Bowl, and made the track available for free for 36 hours as part of a partnership with (RED) and Bank of America, with each download raising $1 for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. During that time, the initiative raised $3 million, and now they’ve released the full video for the Danger Mouse-produced single (iTunes downloads continue benefitting the Fund).

The black-and-white visual was directed by Mark Romanek, and was shot “in a Santa Monica airport hangar over three days.” A few things make it stand out from your standard performance music video, though. First, Bono’s got his patented gymnasium-ring-from-the-future microphone. There’s also an impressive, futuristic light show behind the band. Lastly, by the end, the fans are all shining extremely bright flashlights into the air for an intense flickering effect, like the hangar became a human disco ball.
