Ellie Goulding put together a 40-minute mix for BBC Radio 1, and for the final track she unveiled an unreleased Skrillex song she was featured on back when they were dating. It’s called “Because,” and Skrillex says they recorded in a hotel room two years ago.
Goulding’s vocals are much more manipulated here than they were on their 2011 collaboration “Summit,” as they’re blanketed in fuzz, warped and chopped into loops. For the DJ, the track shows he was already forgoing brostep for the atmospheric, restrained territory of Burial even before dropping “Leaving” last year. Hear the collaboration below.
