Lily Lane’s “I Get High” Video: Idolator Premiere

The nu-soul revival is still alive and well, and Lily Lane is the latest voice to carry the throwback torch.

The 22-year-old songstress has been steadily working her way up the ranks over the past few years, supplying smooth grooves that slip in nicely with the ongoing wave of retro-pop ushered in by artists like Amy Winehouse, Duffy and Joss Stone.

“I Get High,” a track off of her Nothin’ But Trouble EP released in January, is her latest offering. “It’s about “living for the night — something a lot of people my age do when we work 9-5 at a job we aren’t crazy about because we haven’t reached our goals yet and are just trying to get by while we strive towards something bigger,” Lily explains of the song.

The accompanying video for “I Get High” was shot in LA by Ryan Hutchins, and features some of Lily Lane’s closest friends and fellow artists all working to live out their dreams — including X Factor USA finalists Lakota Rayne, America’s Next Top Model‘s Ellie Satterwhite and YouTubers like Alexa Losey, Megan DeAngelis and Mazzi Maz.

“The video is really special to me because instead of representing what a song could mean or a foreign concept or a fantasy come to life, this video is a pretty good depiction of my reality,” Lily explained to us of the accompanying clip. “[We’re] young professionals striving toward their dreams and needing their friends and those moments like the ones we had in this video to escape into the high we one day will hope last all day long when we reach our goals.”

Digging the song? Good. Happen to be a fan of Pretty Little Liars? Doubly good! We definitely suggest you tune in tonight — you’ll hear another track from Lily, “Nothin’ But Trouble,” featured three times on tonight’s episode.
