Eric Church Has Biggest Album Opening Of 2014 So Far With ‘The Outsiders’

Country crooner Eric Church has landed his second consecutive #1 studio album on the Billboard 200 with his fourth outing The Outsiders. (Last year he released a live LP, Caught In The Act, which placed in the Top 5.) The Jay Joyce-produced set gives the 36-year-old North Carolina native the distinction of having the biggest opening week of 2014 to-date, based off the 288,000 copies The Outsiders moved. That’s nearly double the amount his previous chart-topping album, Chief, opened with in 2011 (145,000).

The rest of the Top 10 contains no new debuts, though Imagine Dragons and Miley Cyrus hop back into the upper tier of the Billboard 200. See how the rest of this week’s players shook out below, and check out SPIN‘s cover story on Eric Church here.
