Estelle Really Lets Her Hair Down On ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back’ EP

Estelle shocked everyone earlier this week when she randomly dropped a new buzz track called “Make Her Say (Beat It Up)”. Not only does it have eye-popping artwork but we’re simply not used to the classy British diva describing her bedroom antics in such explicit detail. It played like “Partition” on heat!

It turns out the pulse-raising anthem is part of Estelle’s latest Love & Happiness EP, subtitled How Stella Got Her Groove Back — a reference to the similarly titled 1998 movie starring Angela Bassett. The “Thank You” songstress obviously connected with the film’s message of finding yourself after a bad relationship. Only instead of flying to Jamaica (like the titular character), she takes a trip to the liquor store.

In addition to the raunchy shenanigans depicted in “Make Her Say (Beat It Up)”, Estelle includes a couple of interludes, a song called “Anyway” and EP standout “Drunk And High”. The jazz-tinged, percussion-heavy slow jam follows Drake‘s confessional approach and outlines her adventures after too much booze. It’s real and raw without sounding like something from a porn soundtrack. Listen after the jump.
