Exact dates have yet to be announced, though Eminem reveal that they will perform in New York, Los Angeles and his hometown Detroit in August. To have these two coming together for even just three days feels a little miraculous: These dates will mark the first time that Eminem tours with a pop star. (Artists ranging from David Guetta to A$AP Rocky and HAIM have opened for Rihanna.)
The rapper’s also currently on his Rapture tour with Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole, while Rihanna just wrapped her Diamonds World Tour last fall. Speaking of busy schedules: While Rihanna has joined him in the past to perform their first hit, “Love the Way You Lie” off his Recovery, they had to piece together follow-up hit “Monster” (off The Marshall Mathers LP 2, currently No. 13 on Billboard’s Hot 100) over email due to conflicting schedules, as to be expected from two global superstars.
Eminem says that fortunately, by now he can count on Rihanna to deliver and understand where he’s coming from. “I think people look at us, I don’t know, like we’re a little nuts,” he said to MTV. “It’s one of things I was telling her in making the record, was that I think people look at us a little crazy. She’s got her thing going on, and I got whatever that is.” See the chat below.
