SomeKindaWonderful’s “Reverse” Video: Idolator Premiere

When it comes to haunting soul-rock jam “Reverse,” the first song Ohio trio SomeKindaWonderful ever recorded together, the lyrical details of this particular cheating tale are told, as the title implies, in backwards chronology. Atop a Spector-esque wall of sound, band frontman Jordy Towers leads the track off with the aftermath of the narrator’s infidelity, then proceeds to retrace the steps of how the ill-fated, secret rendez-vous went down.

Towers tells Idolator, “‘Reverse’ is a story song told in reverse. It’s a true story actually. It’s part two of another song that’ll be on the album called ‘Amaretto.’ My favorite rapper growing up, Nas, did it in rap and one of my favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, did it with film. Something about telling a story in reverse is almost more emotional and revealing to me and it just naturally came out in that form when I wrote it.”

Head below to catch the video for “Reverse,” SomeKindaWonderful’s first single off their debut album (due out this summer from Downtown Records/White Clover Records).
