RuPaul Lands The Highest Charting Album Of His Career With ‘Born Naked’

Hats (or should that be wigs?) off to the inimitable RuPaul. He lands the highest charting album of his career this week with Born Naked debuting at number 85 on the Billboard 200. It becomes the drag legend’s second charting LP along with Supermodel Of The World, which peaked just outside the top 100 way back in 1993.

It’s not easy for an independent artist (without a radio single) to make a dent in the charts but Ru has leveraged his loyal social media following brilliantly, joined forces with other cult icons (Martha Wash, Michelle Visage etc) and even sunk pirates by releasing a hilarious decoy album on torrent sites. In revamped one song he hilariously exclaims: “You done stole my album! Uh uh, no you better don’t, hooker!”

Listen to one of RuPaul’s decoy tracks over at Billboard and let us know if you *legally* downloaded the album in the comments below.
