Schoolboy Q, Beck, Kid Cudi & Romeo Santos Lead Debuts On Album Chart

A pack of new album releases debut on the Billboard 200 this week, thus bumping older titles like Katy Perry‘s Prism, Lorde‘s Pure Heroine and Bruno MarsUnorthodox Jukebox out of the Top 10. (Also barely hanging in there is Beyonce‘s self-titled fifth album, at #10). This also means that the chart-topping streak of the soundtrack to Disney’s Oscar winner Frozen is once again interrupted.

Leading the pack of newbie LPs is Schoolboy Q‘s third studio set Oxymoron, which goes in at #1 after first-week sales of 139,000. The Los Angeles rapper’s first two albums, which were independently released, charted at #100 and #111, respectively.

As far as the other debuts go, Beck comes in behind Schoolboy Q and Frozen, at #3 with 12th album Morning Phase (87,000), while Kid Cudi, Romeo Santos and Dierks Bentley fall in line just behind. The Fray round things out at #8 with Helios (37,000), the pop-rock band’s third Top 10 album, and fourth LP overall.
