Kendrick Lamar & Tame Impala’s “Backwards”: Hear The ‘Divergent’ Collab

Time for another new song from the Divergent soundtrack! Following A$AP Rocky and Gesaffelstein‘s “In Distress,” the album’s other big hip-hop collaboration, Kendrick Lamar and Tame Impala‘s “Backwards,” has hit the Web.

While “In Distress” matched Rocky’s chilled out flow with futuristic sonics, this song flips the formula, pairing Lamar’s blunt, gruff delivery over the soothing psychedelic bed of the Australian band’s “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards.” As with K-Dot’s “Radioactive” remix, he still sounds angry (we can’t imagine why he’d have a chip on his shoulder!), so it makes for an interesting juxtaposition. Hear it below.
