Charli XCX Taps Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo & Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij For New Album

Charli XCX is hard at work on the follow-up to last year’s True Romance (well, this week she’s hard at work performing at SXSW), and she has already said it’s influenced by punk, French ye-ye pop and Weezer. So, fittingly, she has told Complex that she is working with Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo on the sophomore set, as well as with Vampire Weekend‘s secret weapon Rostam Batmanglij (who recently worked with Charli collaborator Ariel Rechtshaid).

The British singer says she did one session with each of the guys, and that she hopes to release the album later this year. (Back in January, her target date was June.) No word yet on what the album will be called, but Charli revealed she has a title in mind… so expect some news soon.
