Lorde Encourages Rainbow-Colored Clothing And Same-Sex Kissing At Picketed Kansas Concert

Lorde is the latest pop star to incur the wrath of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church. Her crime? Sticking up for lesbians in an Australian radio interview, which later went viral. The religious group is now planning to picket the Kiwi’s Kansas gig, stating: “New Zealand came forth with a young lassie that doesn’t have enough sense to put in a thimble.”

Well, the 17-year-old isn’t taking that kind of biblical shade lying down! Lorde jumped on Twitter this afternoon (March 18) to rally her fans. “Hahaha omg just found out westboro baptist church are going to picket my show in kansas city,” she tweeted. A couple of minutes later, the Grammy winner asked attendees to wear “rainbow clothing to that show” and encouraged her followers “to kiss church members who are same sex as you”. See her tweets after the jump.

Gives a new and more meaningful meaning to the phrase “Thank you Lorde!” And I Thank you loudly for standing up to such hatred and misuse of religion. I stand with you.

I love how Lorde is sticking up for gay and lesbians rights. But I’m confused about where the concert actually is. Is it at the church or at the concert place? I hope it might be at both but I just want to see her perform.
