Ryan Tedder Shares His Demo Of Demi Lovato’s “Neon Lights”: Listen To “Broken Lights”

Ryan Tedder was recently crowned the ‘Undercover King of Pop’ by Billboard magazine for his own achievements with OneRepublic and his incredible track record as a songwriter for other artists including Demi Lovato. He wrote her current hit “Neon Lights” but it turns out the soaring dance anthem started life under a slightly different name.

The “Counting Stars” singer recently shared his demo — called “Broken Lights” — and it’s fascinating to hear the song’s journey from the 34-year-old’s pen to Demi’s album. The finished version is faithful to Ryan’s original apart from a lyric change in the chorus. “We’ll be going out like broken lights” was swapped for the glitzier “we’ll be burning up like neon lights”. Listen after the jump.
