Nicki Minaj & Future’s “Rockstar”: Hear A Preview Of The Scrapped ‘Honest’ Track

Future held a private Honest listening session last night (March 25), and these sorts of things are ironclad when it comes to keeping people from recording the audio on their phones. So it was odd to see a string of Instagram videos from the event featuring Future’s new song with Nicki Minaj, “Rockstar.”

Well, according to Miss Info, Future actually encouraged the writers and industry peeps to record it and leak it to the Web, because it didn’t make the album due to sampling issues. As the Atlanta rapper explained, the DJ Clue-produced track contains a George Michael sample, but Michael or his camp wouldn’t clear it.

In the videos from the listening session below, you can hear a snippet of the song in which an Auto-Tuned Future seems to interpolate Michael’s “Careless Whisper” melody, before Minaj jumps onto the beat. Check it out.
