Phillip Phillips Announces Sophomore Album ‘Behind The Light’

With his debut album, Phillip Phillips became one of the most successful American Idol winners in the show’s history, thanks to the hit singles “Home” and “Gone, Gone, Gone.” He’s looking to prove that it all wasn’t a fluke with his sophomore album, starting with lead single “Raging Fire,” which he released a few weeks ago. And today (March 28), Phillips announced the LP will be titled Behind The Light, and it’s set for a May 19 release (a tough draw since he’ll be going up against Coldplay‘s Ghost Stories that week).

Phillips recorded the set in New York City with producer Gregg Wattenberg, who has also worked with Train.
