Michael Stipe To Induct Nirvana Into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Chris Martin For Peter Gabriel Tribute

Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame by Michael Stipe on April 10, at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. As frontman of now-defunct alt rock pioneers R.E.M., Stipe played a major role in influencing Nirvana founder Kurt Cobain. The two singers had reportedly been talking about collaborating on material just before Cobain’s death in April 1994.

Another famous frontman, Coldplay‘s Chris Martin, is scheduled to pay tribute to Peter Gabriel at the annual ceremony, while Bruce Springsteen is set to perform with and induct his E Street Band. Also performing: Daryl Hall and John Oates, who will be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame by The Roots‘ Questlove.

Rolling Stone reports that Linda Rondstadt will be honored with “a unique tribute” staged by Stevie Nicks, Carrie Underwood, Emmylou Harris, Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt. Glenn Frey, who once backed up Rondstadt in her touring band before forming The Eagles with Don Henley, will induct the singer at the ceremony.
