Lana Del Rey Delivers Moody Disco Realness On “Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight”: Listen

UPDATE: Lana revealed on Twitter the track isn’t new, saying she “wrote that for someone else 4 years ago.”

Can Lana Del Rey please put us out of our misery and release Ultraviolence? Her sophomore set promises to be a triumph if something as great as “Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight” (which leaked today) didn’t make the cut. This is probably the most upbeat track I’ve heard from the usually sedate diva (outside of a remix) and the murky disco sound turns out to be a surprisingly good fit.

“If you wanna be my little baby you can meet in the pale moonlight,” the 27-year-old coos sexily over an insistent bassline and subtle strings before dropping americana-heavy lyrics about drive-ins and dairy queens. “Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight” demands your attention just to hear Lana (not so) innocently inquire: “I’m the sweetest girl in town, so why are you so mean?” Listen to the midnight disco delight after the jump.

Is this a good sound for Lana? Let us know in the comments below.
