Eminem‘s next music video will be directed by Spike Lee. After the two teased snapshots from Detroit, of an 8 Mile road sign and themselves (above), the high-profile Lee confirmed that they will be working together. “Historic. Who Woulda Thunk It,” he said on Instagram.

The two are working together on a “short film” for “Headlights,” a weepy moment from MMLP2. Featuring fun. frontman Nate Ruess, “Headlights” surprised because of its apologetic lyrics to Eminem’s mother Debbie Mathers. In 1999, Mathers filed a lawsuit and sought $10 million from Eminem for slander implying that she was an unstable drug user, as the rapper had in songs like “Cleanin’ Out My Closet.”

The last music video that Lee directed was for Michael Jackson‘s 2009 “This Is It,” a sentimental clip that features rehearsal footage and revisits Jackson’s childhood home in Gary, Indiana. Revisit the music video after the jump.
