Lady Gaga Drops A Solo Version Of “Do What U Want”: Listen To The Feature-Free Edit

Lady Gaga‘s underrated ARTPOP highlight “Do What U Want” refuses to die. There’s the original cut with R. Kelly, a girls-only remix featuring former enemy Christina Aguilera and now, randomly, a solo version. All three work equally well, which makes the missing video (currently pop music’s greatest mystery) and constant chopping and changing hard to follow.

The latest incarnation of “Do What U Want”, which has been deemed official but could just as easily be a clever fan edit, basically crops out R. Kelly’s contribution — using more of Gaga’s own backing vocal. It sounds great, but what exactly is the point at this stage? Mother Monster has already moved on to “G.U.Y.” and fans are braying for ARTPOP II. (Yes, that’s a thing!) Regardless, this is still a bop and can only brighten your iPod. Listen after the jump.
