Ellie Goulding Drops A Sublime Acoustic Cover Of Kodaline’s “All I Want”: Listen

It’s one of life’s great mysteries that most of Ellie Goulding‘s success has come from fizzy electro-pop anthems because she really comes into her own as an artist with sparse, semi-acoustic tracks. Like her glorious About Time soundtrack cut “How Long Will I Love You” or heartbreakingly beautiful cover of Kodaline‘s “All I Want”, which she just posted on SoundCloud.

I’m not sure why the British songbird decided to unveil her cover of the Irish band’s breakthrough hit now (she revealed on Twitter that it was recorded a couple of months ago) but I’m glad she did. Her version is stripped right back to basics, so that the emphasis is on her ghostly voice and Kodaline’s tender lyrics. That is apart from an otherworldly violin solo. Listen to Ellie’s adorable interpretation after the jump.
