The Presets Deconstruct Kylie Minogue’s “I Was Gonna Cancel”: Listen To Their Brilliant Remix
Kylie Minogue surprised a lot of people by picking “I Was Gonna Cancel” as the second single from Kiss Me Once. The Pharrell connection (he produced it) is an obvious selling point but the subtle mid-tempo jam is the most obvious choice. Happily, a dark and dangerous electro-house remix by The Presets makes the diva’s decision a lot easier to swallow.
The Australian duo completely deconstruct Pharrell’s retro-R&B flavored pop anthem, transforming it into a sprawling floorfiller that throbs with sinister synths and new vocal hooks (for example: “go, go, go girl!”). It’s a radical improvement on the original and a reminder of how good Kylie sounds when she opts for a harder dance sound. Let’s hope this remix gets a radio edit. Listen after the jump.
