Chvrches Remixed Their Three Biggest Songs: Listen

Chvrches have made a nice little side-career covering other artists, and now the Scots have covered themselves. For the deluxe reissue of their highly enjoyable debut The Bones Of What You Believe, the trio have remixed the LP’s three marquee tracks, turning “The Mother We Share,” “Recover” and “Gun” into plaintive bits of dream-pop. The synths in all three take a back seat to Lauren Mayberry’s vocals this time, thus highlighting the subtle emotions that she’s able to evoke with her instrument.

The chipper and pulsating “Mother” has been transformed into a swaying ballad, and “Recover” likewise has been toned down with a bed of atmospheric Atari electronics. And the once-jittery kiss-off “Gun” is nearly unrecognizable, sounding even more deceptively sweet than before.

Stream the three reworked tracks below.
