8 (Relatively) Obscure Collabs Beyonce And Jay Z Could Perform If Their Joint Tour Happens

A Page Six report that Beyonce and Jay Z could be joining forces for a 20-date summer tour had the internet buzzing overtime today (April 16). It sounds almost too good to be true but the Los Angeles Times also chimed in — predicting that The Mr. & Mrs. Carter Show would kick off on June 13 in Atlanta and wrap up on August 6 in San Francisco. They cited an inside source.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up in case this falls through but it’s hard not to wonder about the setlist. Obviously Bey and Jay would perform their own hits but the power couple finally has ample opportunity to tackle any (or all) of their brilliant collaborations. While everyone knows “Crazy In Love” and “Drunk In Love” (I hope), the duo has joined forces on at least eight other times. Peruse our list after the jump and please note that the songs are ranked in no particular order. 

8. “Hollywood” (2007)

This underrated Jayonce gem was the fourth and final single from Hov’s Kingdom Come LP. Amazingly, given their combined star power, it struggled to crack the Billboard Hot 100 but became a minor hit in Australia. A solo version of “Hollywood” was later included on the deluxe edition of Beyonce’s B’day album. This is definitely worth a revisit.

7. That’s How You Like It (2003)

Let’s be real. There’s more chance of Bey and Jay covering “Islands In The Stream” (actually that would be amazing!) than revisiting this harmless piece of filler from the iTunes-conquering diva’s Dangerously In Love album. That being said, it’s a cute enough trip down memory lane.

6. “Lift Off” (2011)

I’m still bitter this wasn’t released as single. “Lift Off” was my favorite track on Jay Z and Kanye West‘s trail-blazing Watch The Throne LP and holds up as one of the duo/trio’s best collaborations. There’s a glorious sample, a killer chorus and a plethora of razor-sharp verses. What more do you need?

5. “Deju Vu” (2006)

Ok, ok. “Deja Vu” is hardly obscure but it was a relative flop outside the US (by Queen Bey’s lofty standards) and people don’t exactly refer to it with the same reverence as, say, “Crazy In Love” or “Drunk In Love”. That being said, B’Day‘s underrated lead single worshipped is by The Hive and would lift the roof off a stadium if performed on Jayonce’s joint tour.

4. “Tom Ford” (2013)

People often forget that Beyonce sings the outro on “Tom Ford”. Probably because she’s credited under her iconic alias Third Ward Trill. The world’s favorite couple has already performed this live, so the chances of it being dusted off again are fairly high.

3. “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” (2002)

I admit that it’s a stretch to label a top 5 hit obscure but 12 years have passed since the brilliant anthem that brought Jay and Bey together rocked the Billboard Hot 100. That means many of their fans were infants when it dropped and missed the magic the first time around. Anyway, it’s always worth revisiting this gem.

2. “Part II (On The Run)” (2013)

I live in hope that Beyonce will one day perform the best song on Magna Carta Holy Grail live. The smoothest and sexiest Jayonce duet performed well on urban radio, crawling to number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year without a video or single piece of promotion. I have my fingers crossed that it’s on the joint tour setlist.

1. “Upgrade U” (2006)

A minor hit from B’Day in 2006, “Upgrade U” remains one of the catchiest hip-hop/pop hits of the past decade. Which could explain why Beyonce keeps performing it and why stans will self-destruct if The Carters don’t perform it together on their, as yet, still imaginary tour.
