‘Jersey Boys': Watch The Trailer For The Clint Eastwood-Directed Four Seasons Biopic
Long before One Direction, The Wanted, Backstreet Boys, Take That and New Kids On The Block were infusing their R&B influences into golden pop harmonies, there was one vocal group blazing a trail for all handsome boy bands to follow: Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. Jukebox musical Jersey Boys has been a Broadway staple since it premiered in 2005. Now the Warner Bros. film version, directed by Clint Eastwood, is scheduled to hit theaters on June 20.
Above is the first trailer for the musical biopic, which shows how lead Four Seasons vocalist Valli (played by John Lloyd Young, who originated the role in the stage version), songwriter Bob Gaudio and their streetwise pals rose up the ranks of the musical elite during the 1960s, and hit more than a few bumps along the way.
One thought upon watching this: kudos to casting Christopher Walken as real-life mobster Gyp DeCarlo, but the real stroke of genius would have been luring Joe Pesci — a key figure in the Four Seasons’ early history — out of retirement from acting for the role.
