Ricky Martin’s Sun-And-Sand Themed “Vida” Video Is A Blast From The Past: Watch

Ricky Martin shared a preview of his latest World Cup anthem “Vida” yesterday (April 21) but the finished product is even more of a blast from the past than expected. With the exception of a couple of grey hairs in the heartthrob’s expertly pruned beard, the Salaam Remi-produced party anthem and video (for that matter) is fairly interchangeable with anything the 42-year-old released at his late ’90s peak.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. There’s something to be said for consistency and Ricky sure knows how to knock out a summery smash with generic Spanglish lyrics that probably sound pretty inspiring after a couple of Coronas. It’s just that the “Adrenalina” singer seems to be revisiting former glories (ie. “The Cup Of Life”) when he could just as easily have a hit with something more current. Maybe next time. Needless to say, he looks great in the video and the Brazilian scenery is pretty awesome. Watch up top.

Are you feeling “Vida” or is it time to retire the FIFA anthems? Have your say in the comments below.
