Christina Aguilera Welcomes Gwen Stefani To ‘The Voice’

Earlier this month it appeared Gwen Stefani would be joining The Voice for season 7, which begins taping in June, to replace the pregnant Christina Aguilera. Now Queen Xtina herself has confirmed the news, welcoming Stefani to the show via Twitter. “So excited to have you join #TheVoice squad @GwenStefani! Welcome to our crazy fam!” Aguilera wrote.

Current spring coach Shakira will be touring this summer, so she likely wasn’t in contention to stay on for next season for the open spot. Yahoo reports that Aguilera is expected to return to the show for Season 8 in 2015. Check out her tweet below.

The coaching change should work out well, in terms of onscreen chemistry, as Stefani collaborator Pharrell is also joining the show, replacing Cee Lo Green. As part of The Neptunes, Pharrell produced No Doubt‘s “Hella Good” and Stefani’s solo smash “Hollaback Girl” in the early aughts.

Those two new coaches will be joined by longtime coaches (and heated rivals) Adam Levine and Blake Shelton this fall.
