7 Questions With MKTO: Their Breakthrough Hit “Classic”, Acting Careers & Next Single

After meeting on the set of short-lived Nickelodeon sitcom Gigantic, Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller decided to pursue their shared passion for music by posting covers on YouTube. It didn’t take long for the duo to catch the attention of record execs and MKTO was born shortly thereafter. The guys first broke big in Australia (their debut LP reached number one) and things are now rapidly heating up over here thanks to irresistible, retro-flavored smash “Classic”.

MKTO recently dropped by the Idolator studio in Los Angeles to talk about their runaway hit and future plans. Tony amusingly describes “Classic” as a song you can take home to mom and clarifies that curious Michael Jackson lyric. They don’t want to “do you” like the King of Pop, they are happy to just “thrill you” like him. (Don’t be too disappointed). The rising stars also talk about their acting careers and excellent new single “American Dream”. Watch up top.
