Ed Sheeran Debuts ‘x’ Track “One” In Empty Wembley Stadium: Watch

Ed Sheeran has rolled out another track from his forthcoming album x, again via video of an acoustic performance of the song. Like his “Take It Back” debut, this was performed in front of just a few crew members, however this rendition happened to take place in an empty Wembley Arena, making for a beautifully surreal affair, like something out of the opening scene of 28 Days Later.

It’s a lovely ballad that can certainly fill an arena, and sounds much more in line with his first album. And that’s because he wrote the thing way back in 2011, before his apparent pop transformation. “‘One’ is the first track I wrote for my second album, shortly after + came out,” Sheeran said in a statement. “I wrote it back in 2011 in Perth, on a guitar made out of a whiskey barrel.” Based on the lyrics, he may have been the one who emptied that barrel first.
