Hilary Duff Recording A Song With Ed Sheeran, Says Single Out “Soon” & Album Out In The Fall

Between 2003 and 2007, Disney starlet Hilary Duff was quite prolific, releasing a string of surprisingly top notch pop albums during a period that was capped off by the ahead-of-its-time Dignity. And while it’s been seven years since that last LP, Duff is back in the musical groove, recording tracks under a new label deal for what she says will be a fall release.

Hilary hit up last week’s iHeartRadio Music Awards and told MTV that she’s been working with songwriters Lindy Robbins (One Direction, Demi Lovato), Toby Gad (Fergie, John Legend) and Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Ariana Grande). She also dropped a pair of other bombshells, the first one being this: “I’m cutting an Ed Sheeran song next week, which I’m really excited about.”

Sheeran, no stranger to collaborating with other artists, has been creatively linked in recent months to no less than Taylor Swift (again), Demi Lovato, Game, Rudimental, Lupe Fiasco and Martin Garrix. His own album x is set for a June 23 release.

Duff’s other big reveal was that a new single will be out “soon” and an album — which, she says, will have an “earthy, indie-pop vibe” — will be available “by fall.”

Hilary elaborated further on her current mindset with getting back to music after a long break: “It feels good to be in the studio. It feels good to be talking about my last few years — the high points and the low points. I really just want to be honest and be an open book for my fans to know where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing, how I feel and all that good stuff.”
