Ariana Grande Ends Her Legendary Silence On Rihanna Laugh-Gate

Ariana Grande recently called in for an interview on Australian radio show The Bump, and the host asked about that now-infamous moment when Rihanna laughed during Grande’s “Problem” performance at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The debate over whether it was a shocked giggle or shady cackle was the only interesting thing to come out of the bloated three-hour advertisement from the Los Angeles Tourism Board. And now we may have an answer.

When asked about RiRi supposedly laughing at her, Grande said she took no offense. “When I watched it afterwards it looked like she was just shocked because I was doing something different.” What’s more, the two singers held a summit after the show. “Afterwards she was so kind to me, she was like, ‘Lil mama keep doing what you’re doing because it’s working.’ And so I thought it was funny that people tried to make such a commotion out of it when she was just being playful and supportive if anything, so I don’t know. People are always trying to make a big deal out of nothing because they’re bored.” Seeing as how we were mind-numbingly bored throughout the broadcast, this is a very astute analysis of the non-controversy.

Also during the chat, Grande confirmed that that duet with Bieber is happening.

Rihanna didn’t spend the whole show chuckling with a beverage, though. She also took home a few awards. Here’s a recap of her night:
