Mariah Carey Talks ‘Me. I Am Mariah’ Album Delays On The ‘Late Show’, Has A Smart Phone Meltdown: Watch

One thing that eluded chanteuse Mariah Carey on the Late Show last night was her ability to thumb through her phone and generate a Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse-like album title for host David Letterman. The bit ended up making for better TV than it otherwise would have, thanks to Mimi’s flustered ranting and Letterman comically staring at his watch.

Carey also talked about the three-year-old Dem Babies, aka her and Nick Cannon‘s son Moroccan and daughter Monroe (“She way out-divas me,” Mariah admitted about young Monroe. “She wins by a million miles. For real.”) and she touched on the many delays with her upcoming album’s release.

“Everything’s been sort of down to the wire, and I keep changing the date,” Mariah said. “It’s only because I want people to experience the album as a body of work. I keep saying that, and yet everybody around me is like, ‘So what’s the single? And what are we putting up on iTunes?’ And I’m like, ‘I know, I know this is the typical way of doing things.’ But I’m trying to do things my way.”

Late last month, Carey took part in a Billboard cover story where she spoke about her desire to do some type of Beyonce-like surprise release with the record. Withing a week, however, Me. I Am Mariah… got a more traditional “upcoming album” announcement via her label.
