Odd Future‘s promo run for its Adult Swim series, Loiter Squad, has been a strange one. On May 14, the group stopped by BuzzFeed, to the surprise of editors – or, as ringleader Tyler, the Creator would recall to The Huffington Post, “I’m above this, oh my god. We’re working. We have strong opinions.” Later at BET’s 106 & Park, Odd Future strolled in while dressed not in its usual skater gear, but as Kanye West has been dressing since the Cruel Summer days – or, as most rappers do now.

Immediately, 106 & Park asked Odd Future to play “Kiss, Marry or Diss” (above). The first category: pop princesses. Tyler and Earl Sweatshirt immediately agreed that marrying M.I.A. would be best, though after host Bow Wow egged on, Tyler finally settled on dissing Iggy Azalea. “I don’t want Iggy,” he said. “She stink. She got shots in her dump. I want real booty.” Before she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to explain her “Fancy” lyrics to old people, Azalea responded to Tyler’s comments — see them after the jump.

Who’s right? Better yet, does any of this even matter? While Azalea does have a point, it’s worth mentioning how the media eggs on Odd Future, too. Huffington Post Live host Ricky Camilleri wasn’t all that mature, either, as he chimed in to criticze BuzzFeed himself: “I’m above this – I make lists.” “This next guest, they are known for doing things differently, okay?” Bow Wow says to introduce the group. Yet, playing “Kiss, Marry, Diss” was BET’s silly idea.

Here’s Odd Future’s HuffPost appearance where they explained the Buzzfeed “controversy:
