The Michael Jackson hologram is the biggest story at this year’s Billboard Music Awards, but even without that polarizing decision, there’s plenty of reason to tune in to tonight’s broadcast. That said, we completely understand if you skipped the thing.

The festivities started with Pitbull croaking his way through the official 2014 World Cup song “We Are One (Ole Ola),” before Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte did what they could to salvage the thing. What we’re saying is, it can only go uphill from there. And it soon did, as Iggy Azalea teamed up with both Charli XCX and Ariana Grande for a pair smash hits.
