Nicki Minaj has responded to a Forbes article published on May 19, initially titled “Hip Hop Is Run By a White, Blonde, Australian Woman.”

While Forbes even changed the headline due to social media backlash (“The author offers sincere apologies to anyone who was offended by it”), the article’s claims remained the same: Iggy Azalea‘s rise in the charts has been swift, while Minaj has been “oddly quiet for months.” In response, the “Pills N Potions” star actually cackled. “Okay. I’m reloaded,” she said on Power 105′s The Breakfast Club.

“Listen. All Forbes needs to worry about is my finances and when I’m going to be selling Myx Fusions for $250 million,” Minaj added. “That’s all they need to worry about. We rely on hip-hop connoisseurs and blogs for that kind of information. So we appreciate it, but no thank you.”

Naturally, The Breakfast Club kicked off its brief chat with by talking about the Pink Print star’s latest output, also including hype tracks “Chiraq” and “Yasss Bish!” (Her recent Powerhouse set could have easily been mentioned, too.) But to recap: Minaj was criticizing Forbes for claiming she’s been “oddly quiet,” not for praising Azalea.

Earlier on, she also reminded Power 105 that she needed time to gain recognition and respect, like any other female rapper entering the scene. “Even when I was grinding and putting out tapes and stuff like that, it was hard for me,” she said. “It was a lot of work. It didn’t just happen overnight. It’s not a female-friendly business. Hip-hop is not female-friendly at all.” See Power 105′s chat with Nicki Minaj below.

them sayin iggy runs hip hop is crazy, this shows how the world is.nicki had to put out numerous hits and get the best sellings albums by a female rapper plus get on numerous verses for her to get any recognition, but iggy has to put out one hit song and now she runs hip hop smh. that shows how messed up the world is(white gets spotlight and black in the back) p.s. iggy dont run hip hop and nicki is definetly still the queen of hip hop. look at the track record

      to ‘funny’:
umm, no. iggy azalea has been around for many, many years. as early as 2011. she like many artists were only recognised when a song went big. like nicki minaj; ever since suber bass her fan count has boosted, but do people know that she’s been fighting her way tot he top since 2004?
iggy like many artists has had to climb her way to get where she is.
phuck outta here, learn your shiz.

She could’ve at least gave Iggy some props for achieving some success, something VERY hard for female rappers these days as she should know. But oh well, I guess she isn’t about ” female unity ” as she claimed in the beginning after everyone said she wanted to be the only female rapper doing something on the mainstream, shame.

  3. yeahriteallnite

iggy has a hot single = she’s running hip-hop? Stick to finance

  4. tamsa

they both aren’t the best so it really doesn’t matter

  5. They are both talented hard working women and the drama created by headlines and interviewers asking baited questions is diluting their efforts.

I like them both… I’d like to think Nicki is running the game right now and Iggy has finally smashed her way mainstream and is helping turn heads toward it.

  6. Also when did Forbes become XXL Magazine? Guess they need clicks this month.
