Kanye West once asserted that rappers are the new rock stars. This summer at Jay Z‘s Made in America festival, he gets a chance to prove himself right. West has been announced as one of four headliners, as the two-day festival (August 30 and 31) expands to go bi-coastal.

The Yeezus star and Kings of Leon top the Philadelphia bill, also featuring Pharrell, Tiesto, Steve Aoki and The National as major acts. Imagine Dragons (above) and John Mayer are headlining the Los Angeles line-up, also featuring Aoki, Afrojack, Kendrick Lamar and Juanes. It would be interesting to see whether Lamar joins Imagine Dragons for its “Radioactive” remix. And it would be great to hear Mayer perform his inspired take on “XO,” by past Made in America headliner Beyonce.

Other Los Angeles acts of note include Metric, Capital Cities, Rita Ora, hit-making producers like Hit-Boy and DJ Mustard, Weezer, whose Blue Album just turned 20. The Philadelphia line-up is still being assembled, though festival goers can look forward to seeing YG (“Who Do You Love”), Baauer (Remember “Harlem Shake”?), Mayer Hawthorne, AWOLNATION, City and Colour and Chromeo, who just released its fourth and best-selling album White Women.
