Finally! After postponing the release of her album for almost a year now, UK songstress Cher Lloyd has released her LP Sorry I’m Late at last. The aptly-named sophomore attempt, while certainly reflecting her maturity from her X Factor days, still retains a sizable dose of her signature brat-pop style that we all know and love.

Our own Emily Tan welcomes this starlet’s metamorphosis, stating, “Sorry I’m Late may have really been worth the wait. While it’s still that fresh and carefree pop music that’s sure to be on every tween’s playlist this summer, it does have elements that show Lloyd as a blossoming young woman.”

Here is what the rest of the music world had to say about the album release.

::Pop Dust gave the album a 4/5: “Fans couldn’t ask for more on a project that sees one of the most promising rising stars shed her former bubblegum self and find a more mature, complex sound. Her (new) voice is loud and clear.”

:: ContactMusic echoes Pop Dust, stating, “Cher Lloyd is saying she’s sorry, but luckily for us, there’s only one thing she’s apologizing for. The apology is in the title of her latest album, Sorry I’m Late, due out May 27, and the record is an absolute smash.

:: NewsDay, on the other hand, gave rather negative reviews: “It’s well-crafted, but devoid of any personality — a shame considering Lloyd has such a winning one.”

:: Sugarscape particularly focused on track M.F.P.O.T.Y.”: “It’s basically a massive ‘IDGAF’ anthem that makes us wanna go to one of those American house parties with the red cups.”

:: MTV says that the album is a bit of an emotional roller coaster: “I know that I drop the “F” word a little too liberally from time to time — “feelings,” that is — but trust me when I say that Cher’s 11-song set might as well be titled ‘Journey to the Center of Your Emotional Core.’”
