Sia’s “Eye Of The Needle”: Listen To The Lush ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’ Ballad

Ahead of the July 8 release of her first album in four years, Sia has offered up the drum- and piano-driven “Eye Of The Needle” as another buzzy tease for the LP. The ballad, from the forthcoming 1000 Forms Of Fear, sticks to the formula Ms. Furler knows best: anguished lyrics (“I ain’t ready, but I’ll hold steady / I’ll hold you in my arms”) atop a wall of sound that keeps adding brick after brick until song’s dramatic, soaring coda.

Make no mistake, Sia knows exactly what corner of the pop world she fits into perfectly, and with both “Eye Of The Needle” and current single “Chandelier,” the Australian hit-maker further cements her status as a songwriter adept at plumbing the depths of emotion many of her contemporaries are unable to reach on their own.
