Last night, singer-songwriter Demi Lovato appeared as a musical guest on Late Night With Seth Meyers for what turned out to be a pretty entertaining interview to say the least. While the pop star was there to promote her latest single “Really Don’t Care,” she also spoke about her upcoming world tour, her new apartment amongst the elderly and, here’s the kicker folks, her fervent belief that aliens and mermaids are real(?!).

Yeah, we were pretty intrigued too. Confessing her love for conspiracy theories, Lovato believes that mermaids are real because of an apparently convincing documentary she saw on The Discovery Channel.

While Seth had his doubts, Lovato remained true to the cause. When asked if mermaids look  similar to how they are depicted in books, she said  “No. I mean they are aliens.” Meyers then asked is she could draw him a picture of a mermaid, to which she confidently stated “Oh, there are pictures online,” breaking out in laughter.

While the concept seemed all too bizarre to thoroughly grasp, Demi proved to be not only a real hit with the audience, but with Seth Meyers himself, who said that it was “the most fun he ever had during an interview.”
