Slip on your shades, grab a glass of lemonade and check back each weekday over the next week and a half as we present you each Song Of The Summer contender.

There is no doubt that the contenders in our Song Of The Summer competition are incredibly catchy, but this entry takes it to the next level! After releasing a list of hits over the past five years, Jason Derulo is back again to take on the summer months with his party anthem “Wiggle.” From award show performances to viral videos, the latest single from the R&B singer has sparked a fire that puts everyone in the dancing mood.

Jason Derulo is no stranger to to the Pop and R&B worlds, as he made his debut with his eponymous album in 2010. Since then, he has dropped a few gems here and there, but they never made an impressive impact (compared to his competitors Chris Brown and Ne-Yo) until recently. 2014 is shaping up to be the year that Derulo conquers all!

Jason was introduced to the music world with the 2009 single “Whatcha Say,” which came with odd habit of announcing his name at the beginning of every song (thank goodness he gave that up). It was followed by radio favorites like “Ridin’ Solo” and last year’s “Take Me To The Other Side.” Derulo’s “Talk Dirty” was released last August, and features the popular horn trend a la Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ “Thrift Shop” and Ariana Grande‘s “Problem.”

The naughty tone of “Talk Dirty” also provided the perfect segue into Derulo’s budding sex appeal, as seen in his most recent hit “Wiggle.” The super-sexy tune is the fourth single from the singer’s fourth studio album Talk Dirty. As if the twerking trend wasn’t massive already, it is an ode to the ladies who know what to do with that big fat butt (wiggle, wiggle, wiggle…)!

What makes the song summer-appropriate (other than its instructions to shake your booty) is the addictive whistle-like hook, which is produced by Wallpaper. It is so addictive, in fact, that even cats (and Shaq?) are getting down to the trap-inspired song. Plus, you can’t go wrong with a smooth feature from Snoop Dogg (who has a slew of summer hits of his own e.g., “Beautiful,” “Signs,” “Torn Apart” and his guest spot on “California Gurls”).

Jason Derulo has websites like Vine, Tumblr and Buzzfeed to thank for helping to create a viral hit, though the song’s official video definitely plays a part in its popularity. Released last month, the clip takes place at a pool party at a huge mansion hosted by Snoop, Ne-Yo and Derulo himself. It doesn’t hold back on the amount of pretty ladies with big boobs and wiggly booties, either!

Aside from its music video (which has over 34 million views), “Wiggle” has been doing very well on the charts. The slinky jam currently sits at #6 iTunes and is holding the #10 spot on Billboard Hot 100 — the singer’s fifth Top 10 single overall on the main chart.

With its trap-inspired, twerk-friendly beat and cheeky lyrics, Jason Derulo’s latest single has all the elements of becoming the ultimate party jam over the next few months. So, will you be getting your “Wiggle” on at the clubs this summer?
