Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” Sparks Twitter Sing-Along By MLB Teams
It’s official: Not even Major League Baseball can resist Taylor Swift‘s charms. On June 9, MLB’s official Twitter account posted a photo with two gloves, captioned “It’s a glove story…” This inspired the Los Angeles Dodgers to chime in with the opening line of Swift’s 2008 hit “Love Story”: “We were both young when I first saw you.”
The one-on-one serenading soon turned into a full-on sing-along, as the San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians all chimed in. Most of them sang of Romeo & Juliet , while a few tried to steer it in a new direction. (Hint: It involved “22.”) If only sports commentary could be like this all the time — inspired by the same love for the game, but in the words of the Fearless songwriter.
