Bonnaroo 2014: Kanye West Returns To The Festival For First Time Since 2008 Debacle

Kanye West returned to Bonnaroo on June 13, for the first time in six years – on time, though not without a score to settle. To a crowd of 80,000, West brought up his disastrous 2008 headlining set, which he famously began at 4:30 a.m. instead of 2:45 as billed. And, as he had on his now-defunct blog, the Yeezus star blamed fellow headliners Pearl Jam for delaying his start. “I did this shit six months after my mom passed,” he said. “Pearl Jam played late. I went on when the sun was rising.”

Then, West placed blame on the media for making it seem like he, “the only motherfuckin’ rock star in the planet,” was the only person worth called out. “Where the press at? Where the press at?” he repeated at one point, raising his voice each time until he was nearly screeching. Based on reports so far, though, plenty of media was there to note his starting time – just 10 minutes after his listed start time, at 10 p.m. Meanwhile, fans had started posting up by his stage since early that morning.

According to The Tennessean, one even had a sign that said, “Forgive Kanye” – do you agree? See clips from West’s return to Bonnaroo, then sound off in the comments below.
